We teach our children to maintain a small patch of land on the school grounds. This is not because we want to turn our children into small farmers (but there would be nothing wrong with that) but rather that planting allows us to do a number of different things such as:
- learn fine motor control which we need to learn to write;
- learn about measurement, quantities and graphing as the plants grow;
- start to learn fundamentals in economics by figuring out profit margins for sale.
